Introducing Criss Cross by India Mahdavi, her first collection for cc-tapis. A hand-woven rug available in different shades, which materializes a contemporary take on the classic tartan pattern. Criss Cross gives prominence to traditional weaving techniques while it also highlights India Mahdavi's distinctive language and sensibility for color.
Meticulously crafted, the design unites two worlds of artisanal production: chainstitching and hand-tufting. Both techniques associated create complementary decorative layers, one [stitched to the base] whilst the other, tufted by hand, propels the motif into a third dimension. A layering of graphic and geometric elements dyed in captivating color combinations, intersecting traditional processes and modern elegance.
