CANVAS SERIES
The Canvas collection is the perpetuation of a unique collaboration between India Mahdavi and Poterie Ravel, which was first established two years ago. For this new summer solstice, we are invited on a journey from Aubagne, in the heart of Provence, to Paris, through a vivid interplay of colour, light and bold cylindrical shapes.
The hand-turned vases in white clay and terracotta resemble paintings, as if they were rolled-up canvases. The paint looks as though the artists’ hand was freed from the paint brush. The vases themselves almost drift away from their actual function, becoming more like objects that please the senses.
The Canvas Collection is a capsule of about thirty unique pieces, all numbered and signed and handmade by India Mahdavi.
