ARCHIVES SENSIBLES

Archives Sensibles is a two-fold installation articulated around the notion of archive as a living memory, a moving material. The Tiny Room reveals an ensemble of furniture scale models and mock-ups that are the outcome of a personal, singular work process. Halfway between a design tool and support for a dreamlike fantasy, these miniature objects act like the characters of a reduced theater that materialize a hand-scale writing of volume. This display is like the behind the scenes of a furniture collection created and consolidated throughout the years: it documents the construction and the evolution of a sensitive and unique formal vocabulary.

The installation also marks the launch of Project Room – Vol. I, the first tome of an editorial project art directed by Studio Achermann – which retraces the ephemeral decors and installations set between 2020 and 2023 in this hybrid space conceived as a laboratory of creation. Beating heart of India Mahdavi’s ecosystem, the Project Room is full of reminiscences – of the decors that have inhabited its walls, and of moments of life that have punctuated the first four years of its programmation. This book is an attempt to keep a trace of this.
